If you have spent any time at all growing a networking business at some point it has felt weird. More that likely its the thought of approaching people you know or strangers you don't know yet.
Have you ever wondered why that is? Why do you feel that feeling of discomfort when you think about talking to your sister or your successful friend about your business. What is it about start a conversation with a stranger that has you in knots and full of anxiety. Ordinarily you have not issues talking to these people usually you can talk to your sister about anything without any kind of weirdness and talking to strangers is something you find fun and exhilarating but wanting to talk about your business and you just can't do it.
Do you want to know why you are having difficulty…
Simply because you are focusing on yourself and not the person you are talking to. You are focusing on what that person can do for you and not how YOU can be of service to them. Admit it, in the back of your head the conversation you are having with yourself is something along the lines of
They have a huge network of people that they would be able to tap into if they joined my business.
Wow, they really need to lose weight if they brought my product X then they would lose the weight and look amazing.
They are broke, hard up for cash losers and they need what I'm offering.
Having read these example thoughts what's the likelihood of having powerful conversations with those thoughts in the background. The bottom line is that you are thinking about what THEY can do for YOU and not what YOU can do for THEM.
The above quote is the key to getting rid of the weirdness we all have in our conversations about our networking businesses. Have conversations with people about what is important to them. Have conversations about what THEIR pain points are. Have conversations with people about THEIR dreams hopes and desires for their life.
But here is the the main thing…have those conversations with zero agenda of how they can help you.
